Bayer forced to licence Nexavar to Indian company

Bayer has been ordered by an Indian court to license Nexavar, or sorafenib, to Natco Pharma. In exchange, Natco has to pay Bayer a 6% royalty on its net sales and must sell the drug for $176 a month, about 3% of the $5,600 that Bayer currently charges for it in India. The court has ordered that Natco’s drug will only be for use in India. Nexavar, which Bayer developed with Onyx Pharmaceuticals, is used to treat advanced kidney cancer and liver cancer.
