China Sky One Medical Inc (CSOM) has entered an alliance with the Taiwanese company Golden Biotechnology Corporation (GBC) to jointly develop a new anti-cancer drug called Antroquinonol. The compound extracted from Antrodia Cinnamomea Chang & Chou, is a rare medicinal fungus that grows naturally inside the Cinnamonum kanehirae tree trunk, a native tree species of Taiwan. It holds potential for the treatment of liver cancer and lung cancer.
CSOM is a manufacturer and marketer of pharmaceutical and diagnostic kits, while GBC specialises in the development of bio-medicines. In accordance with the alliance agreement CSOM will be GBO’s exclusive partner in the new drug application process and the exclusive sales agent in China. The two companies expect to receive SFDA approval for Apntroquinonol within three years.
